Alot of things have being going wrong in marriages across the country which most of us are aware of, the essence of this article is to possibly pinpoint those things which are also reasons why people divorce in Nigeria and beyond. Divorce is the process of terminating a marriage or marital union. Divorce usually entails the canceling or reorganizing of the legal duties and responsibilities of marriage, thus dissolving the bonds of matrimony between a married couple under the rule of law of the particular country or state. In my attempt to find out why people go into terminating their marriages especially in Nigeria, I was able to come out with these 5 reasons. 1. Lack of preparation and proper counseling. It is well known that when one fail to prepare or plan in life he or she is likely to fall. It is good to be well prepared and counseled before going into any union. 2. Lack of Dating. Courtship can be termed as a period during which a couple develop a romantic relationship before getting married. During this time a man and a woman can study and know much about each other, but when courtship is not practised, you may end up marrying someone you don't know anything about. 3. Extramarital affairs. This is one of the things a man will not tolerate from his wife and it can lead to divorce. Sometimes women tend to tolerate this act from their husbands just to keep a home. 4. Infertility. Some of the divorce in Nigeria is as a result of the woman's inability to give birth or conceive. 5. Another reason is Domestic violence and lack of communication which has destroyed great homes today in our society.
