Ways To Curb Single Parenting In The Society

Accordingto Wikipedia, society is a group of individuals involved in persistent social interaction, or a large social group sharing the same spatial or social territory, typically subject to the same political authority and dominant cultural expectations. In our society today, we are saddled with the issue of single parenting and it is gradually alarming and becoming a psychological issue to children or child. A single parent is a person who lives with a child or children and who does not have a spouse or live-in partner. Reasons for becoming a single parent include divorce, break-up, abandonment, domestic violence, rape, death of the other parent, childbirth by a single person or single-person adoption etc. Single parenting is a problem because it brings less opportunity for parents and children to spend time together, effects of breakup on children' school performance and peer relations. Children raised by single parents (mothers) are more likely to fare worse on a number of dimensions including their school achievement, their social and emotional development, their health and success in the labour market.
In this article, I will highlight two solutions to single parenting in the society. 1. Reducing the rate of unfaithfulness. This implies to both genders. A lot of marriages have broken today because of the rate of unfaithfulness between husband and wife which atimes leads to divorce therefore, living the child with just one parent. 2. Abstinence from domestic violence. Domestic violence has being a night mare to a lot of couples nowadays. Men and women are complaining about how they have been mal-handled by their partners in their homes. This has made a lot unable to stand the heat therefore, resulting to divorce that leads to single parenting.
