Possible Kind Of Leaders That Can Solve Nigeria's Many Problems Comes 2023 Elections

Elections in a democratic context are periodically held to bring in new leaders and new ideas that will bring about good governance and foster development to such a state. No doubt, Nigeria, as a democratic state holds elections every four years. 2023 won't be an exception. It is quite interesting to know that, Nigerians are not same as they were years back particularly, 2019. Before 2019, elections were quite more destructive, but that of 2019 wasn't so as was witnessed in Benue State for instance. This then means that the people are consciously becoming aware of their rights; to hold a government accountable, know who and whom to vote, neglect political unrest instilled by political leaders, ensure fairness, good life etc and won't be maneuveredly bought with foods stuff, money, clothing etc. What is gradually taking over is what such a candidate has to offer than mere political affiliations. It is important to stress that Nigerians are becoming wiser each day and are seemingly becoming aware of the political kleptomaniac leaders who venture into politics just but for their aggrandizement. "The Nigerian State has suffered indeed from bad leadership as rightly pointed out by Prof. Chinua Achebe in his novel titled "Trouble with Nigeria" Thus, it won't be a surprise for Nigerians to crave and yearn for good governance comes 2023. Leaders who are radical both in thoughts and deeds and more practice towards change. No doubt, APC or PDP has failed us all, and its high time trends change from voting mere political parties to voting candidates who can deliver irrespective of political parties, religion, geographical location, and what have you. Needless to point is the sufferings we have gone through for the past five and a half years, as they are numerous and way painful than then. Before 2015, It was sure new dawn for us as for the first time in political manifestoes of Nigeria, where we promised; free and quality education, fair governance and representation, a fair dispensation of the justice system, providence of dividends of democracy more so, social amenities. It is rather unfortunate that we only dashed our hopes on the breezy noise of liars as its ministers haven't delivered on any of their promises. A four-year course has ended up as a six-years, what the heck. Let me reiterate that Nigeria's problem isn't just about those in power, it is very much all aligned with the political unwillingness of the general masses towards governance. "Give an average Nigerian the opportunity to use funds accrued for succour, he's most definitely going to think of enriching himself more so his family". How then can we move forward with this mindset? How then can Nigeria be what we pray for when we are not accountable even unto little things, how much more, public offices? Below are the Possible traits to watch out for from leaders or candidates come 2023 elections. 1. A candidate who has impacted humanity in his or her little way aside from government. 2. A leader with a vision to deliver, who's is public-oriented is full of intellect and brains to man manoeuvered stirl the affairs of Nigeria in governance. These leaders or new breed must be as Aristotle said, " philosopher-king". 3. A candidate who is ready for service to humanity devoid of religion, belief system, geographical location, favouritism, nepotism etc. And most willing to lay down his life for his followers. 4. He or she must be radically inclined towards positive change. 5. It must be a candidate without a political godfather. This is very important as they don't get to use public funds to service their relationship with their godfathers. 6. We must as well watch out for meritocracy and not gerontocracy. 7. His or her choice of the cabinet must be people with sound minds and intellectually capacitated. This is evident in the saying, 'show me ur friend and I will tell you who you are'. 8. He or she must be economically driven to change and diversification. In conclusion, for the Nigeria state to become a better place for us all, we must collectively do right at all times and to all, not a chosen few. Justice and equity must be served rightly irrespective of who is the convict, public offices should be public-oriented, contracts awarded must be overseen to the latter to ensure good and quality delivery, there should be reinforcement for education. Let merit in education be appreciated. From the foregoing, if aptly and keenly observed, Nigeria will sure be a better place.
